A yoga practitioner for many years, I finally made the move to share my love of yoga with others and completed my 200 hr Yoga Alliance Certification in 2020, my 50 hr Yin Yoga Certification in 2021 and in 2024, I became a certified Mindfulness Coach. With a focus on asanas, pranayama and meditation, my driving force is on self love and teaching yoga with a solid focus on the body so that students will be able to practice, safely, for years to come.

Yoga Workshop

Wednesday, November 27, 2024

Wednesday, March 12, 2025

Wednesday, April 23, 2025

Join me at Crescent Heights High School for a 3-part Mindfulness Workshop held in conjunction with the Alberta Teachers' Association.

Session 1: What Is Mindfulness and How to Introduce It In My Classroom?

November 27, 4:30-6pm @ Crescent Heights High School in the Yoga room.

Mindfulness is a term that is heard a lot these days but what is it, really, and how do we practice mindfulness? In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the concept of mindfulness and will be led through a series of activities that can be geared toward all ages and any setting. Participants will need a notebook, something to write with, coloured pencils, a reusable cup and should dress in layers and in comfortable clothing; if weather permits, a portion of this workshop will take place outdoors. No prior experience is necessary. Yoga mats and props will be available at Crescent Heights but participants are able to bring their own materials if they prefer.

Register at eventbriteRegistration closes November 22, 2024 and is open to Local 38 teachers only.

Session 2: The Breath: The Science Behind Introducing a Mindful Movement Practice In Schools.

March 12, 4:30-6pm @ Crescent Heights High School in the Yoga room.

“A growing body of empirical evidence shows that health is now more relevant than ever”,  Edú-Valsania, S., Laguía, A., & León, J. a. M. (2022). Mindfulness allows you to slow down your thoughts and, with regular practice, can help participants to manage stress and anxiety. In this workshop, participants will be led through a gentle movement practice that will focus on teaching a variety of pranayama (breath) techniques. It will cover how to introduce a mindful movement practice with reluctant participants and will provide ideas for how to introduce a regular mindfulness practice in the classroom and in the school. Participants are encouraged to wear layers and clothing they can move in; no prior experience is necessary. Yoga mats and props will be available at Crescent Heights but participants are able to bring their own materials if they prefer.

Session 3: The Body: The Art Of Listening

April 23, 4:30-6pm @ Crescent Heights High School in the Yoga room.

The word yoga comes from the sanskrit word “yuj” meaning to yoke or unite. In this yoga movement practice, participants will be led through an active asana practice followed by restorative yin practice in order to explore how playing with “opposites” can allow us to sink into stillness a little deeper and unite body, mind and breath. This practice will aim to guide participants into a deep sense of relaxation allowing them to de-stress and reconnect with themselves. Participants are encouraged to wear layers and clothing they can move in; no prior yoga experience is necessary. Yoga mats and props will be available at Crescent Heights but participants are able to bring their own materials if they prefer.
