Mindful Music Meditation

This next meditation is centered around one of my favorite pieces of music — On The Nature of Daylight by Max Richter. It’s a piece I return to time and time again because it never fails to transport me — to draw me into the melody and carry me away on the strings of the violins.

As you listen, I invite you to simply be with the music — to let it move through you and bring you into this present moment.

Find a comfortable position where you can rest and soften into stillness…and when you’re ready, press play.

Small steps as we move through October 🍂

The temperature has been dropping these past few days. Yesterday, I took Sunny Day for a mid-morning walk and we found SNOW ⛄️ ❄️. There is something comforting about being able to cuddle up in a warm sweater and enjoy the afternoon sun. Have you been participating in the 30-Days of Self-Care? How is it going? I’d love to hear from you. 💜

The Good Ol’ Days

There’s a line from The Office when Andy says, ‘I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days before you’ve actually left them.’

That’s been resonating with me so much lately — especially with my Oscar starting grade 12. I always thought there was so much time, and suddenly, I’m wondering where it all went.

I came across this quote from Rumi that feels like an answer:

‘Try not to resist the changes that come your way.

Instead let life live through you.

And do not worry that your life is turning upside down.

One little step is better than none 💜

I wanted send you a virtual hug for doing your best. Is it perfect? No, of course not; it never is. Remember, one little step is better than no step at all on your journey to self-care

Oh September, welcome. 🍂

A new month always feels like a fresh beginning, and I’m so glad you’re here for it. Whether September brings you back-to-school routines, the soft shift into fall, or simply a chance to reset, may it meet you with ease and inspiration. Let’s step into this month together with open hearts and gentle intention. How are you feeling? 💛

Where are you at? How are you at? What if we try to commit to simply enjoying the moment instead of always looking ahead to the next big thing? This has been on my heart lately as Oscar enters grade 12 and Julio, grade 10

. A dear friend recently reminded me of a quote: “the days are long, but the years are short.” It’s one I can really feel right now.

Let me know where you’re at—let’s do this together. Much love. 🤍

Agreed! I continuousy intend to live in the ‘NOW’! To remind mysrlf, I stamo my foot (bit like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz’ to remind myself that this is the moment!!! My mantra is ‘Stop Existing, Start Living’ and nothing is more true than when we exist amidst the hustle to get our kids to the next stage… good reminder Maria! Thank you!!

Reframing Rest and Self-care

For the past few weeks, I’ve been wrestling with the idea that rest and self-care are not wasted time. As a teacher, I look forward to summer as a chance to dive into all the fun things I love. But this year, after a few weeks of being constantly on the go, I found myself craving stillness. The strange part was that—even though I knew deep down that I needed it—I couldn’t shake the guilt that came with slowing down. So, I’ve been practicing listening to what feels right in the moment: sometimes that’s binge-watching Emily in Paris, sometimes it’s going for a paddle, and sometimes it’s spending time with friends. It makes me wonder—what if, as a society, we reimagined how we view rest and self-care? How might that shift the way we live?

Food for though....

Here are five journal prompts that pair beautifully with your reflection on…
